Overview

Morgan Osman "I'm Instagram Famous" Plane Rant is a viral video of Instagram influencer and Bad Girls Club season five reality TV star Morgan Osman on an American Airlines flight in mid-September 2023 in which she directly called out another passenger as a "bum" during a public freak out similar to Tiffany Gomas in July 2023. Osman's expletive-laden rant quickly became a trending topic online following news coverage, leading to widespread discourse, jokes and memes appearing on social media over the following days.

Background

On September 17th, 2023, the X account @NoCapFights^[1] uploaded a 20-second clip of a woman, with both of her bags in her hands, attempting to leave an American Airlines flight. The woman, later identified to be influencer and reality TV star Morgan Osman from Bad Girls Club,^[5] can be seen verbally talking down to a man and his spouse, who she claims started it by talking to her inappropriately when she notices she is being filmed and declares that she is "Instagram famous."

The video from @NoCapFights quickly went viral and received over 30 million views and 140,000 likes in two days while subsequently going viral on other social media platforms, as well as receiving significant news coverage^[4] (shown below).

Online Reactions

After the video of her circulated, memes began to be made referencing her as the new "Plane Lady" with the last one, Tiffany Gomas (also known as the "TMFINR plane woman"), being two months removed from pop culture.

For example, on September 18th, 2023, the X account @StockMarketDrip^[2] uploaded a photo of various people who have had viral public outbursts on planes, captioning that they were "Assembling A Team" involving them, earning over 4.4 million views and 75,000 likes in one day (shown below).

On September 18th, X user and musician @DrakeDragoon3^[3] uploaded a remixed mashup of both "Plane Ladies" to simulate them talking to each other, with a trap beat used as the background track (shown below).

The video and reveal of Osman as the woman identified in it also spread to other social media platforms like TikTok over the following days. For example, on September 18th, the official TMZ account posted a TikTok about the viral video, receiving nearly 25,000 likes in roughly 24 hours (seen below, left). On September 19th, TikToker @ifenglobal also shared the video of Osman, receiving over 3,300 views in six hours (seen below, right).
