Overview
TheBurntPeanut Dead By Daylight Controversy, also known as Burnt Peanut DBD DLC Controversy, refers to backlash that the VTuber and streamer TheBurntPeanut and Behaviour Interactive, the developers of the video game Dead by Daylight (DbD), received after a Behaviour Interactive team member gifted TheBurntPeanut all of the DLC for the video game for free while he was streaming it in late October 2026.
The controversy stems from allegations that TheBurntPeanut is racist and homophobic, which purportedly clashes with the values of the Dead by Daylight team and community. The gifting was also seen as an example of "streamer privilege." The Dead by Daylight team released two responses to the drama as it unfolded in late 2026, apologizing to the community for gifting TheBurntPeanut the DLC, and ultimately revoking the content from his account.
Background
On October 30th, 2026, streamer TheBurntPeanut hosted a Twitch[1] stream where he played the multiplayer survival horror video game Dead by Daylight. During the stream, a member of the Dead by Daylight team gifted TheBurntPeanut all of the characters in the game for free.
After receiving all the characters, TheBurntPeanut jokes about how X / Twitter users will react, mockingly saying, "Streamer privilege, streamer privilege!" He also makes fun of people in his chat who are getting mad about it. Purportedly, the team member who gifted TheBurntPeanut the skins wrote in the chat, "WE CAN TAKE THE HEAT! THEY ARE YOURS TO KEEP."[2]
Backlash
The DLC and cosmetic items gifting resulted in backlash as it spread in late October and early November 2026, primarily towards the Dead by Daylight team, especially on X / Twitter.
On October 31st, 2026, X[3] user @Awk20000 posted a video sharing a now-private post from user @BeardedCollectr complaining about TheBurntPeanut receiving the gifts on the grounds of the streamer being a "massive racist and homophobe," garnering over 5,500 likes in three days.

Dead by Daylight Team's First Response
On October 31st, 2026, the @DbDPulse X[4] page, an official page that gives updates from the DbD team, made a post explaining the situation and apologizing for gifting TheBurntPeanut the DLC, gaining over 15,000 likes in three days.
In the post, the devs assure the community that they're looking into the situation and reviewing their internal processes to "prevent an incident like this from happening again."
TheBurntPeanut's Response
On November 2nd, 2026, TheBurntPeanut addressed the backlash during a stream on Twitch.[5] In his response, which was clipped and reposted by X[6] user @awk20000 that day, he makes fun of those trying to cancel him and insists he does not support racism or transphobia.
TheBurntPeanut addresses the Dead by Daylight situation
"I already get cancelled on Twitter rn cause Dead by Daylight..did you just get skins for free? That makes you a racist!..there's one guy that submitted a refund, and in the refund reason box, they go TheBurntPeanut collaboration and the response of the game's communication team, I do not support racist transphobes..I don't think I've ever said anything about transgender people"
"They go for like 3 things that would make a lot of people mad and then say you do all of them, it's the meta"

Dead by Daylight's Second Response
On November 2nd, 2026, the DbD team posted another, longer response to the controversy on X,[7] garnering over 24,000 likes in a day.
In the statement, the developers again apologize, lay out how they're going to internally make sure an incident like this does not happen again, and make it known that they took the DLC away from TheBurntPeanut's account.
Online Reactions
On November 2nd, 2026, a thread was made on the /r/youtubedrama[8] subreddit about the drama, garnering over 400 upvotes and nearly 300 comments in a day. The post stated:
To preface, horror is an incredibly pro LGBTQ space, due to horror being created by LGBTQ and women directors, writers, etc. Like Chucky. Which, by extension, lead to Dead By Daylight being an incredibly pro LGBTQ space, including the game having gay, trans and minority characters.
Why is this preface necessary? Because the Burnt Peanut is not pro LGBTQ. And when he got gifted $300+ worth of DLC for Dead By Daylight, Dead By Daylight content creators and public figures were at first, annoyed because he does not represent the community's values. This annoyance turned into frustration really quickly where as soon as these creators started talking about this, chuds started spamming them with slurs and threats. As it turns out, Burnt Peanut's fanbase is incredibly dense with bigots.
Which is a reflection of the Burnt Peanut. If this is both the audience you allow and how they behave, what does that say about you? This lead to Dead By Daylight addressing it via one of their new official accounts.
The long and short of it is, Mandytalks, the lead community manager, got plastered and either took a company laptop home or logged in on the official twitch account at home, was watching Burnt Peanut, and decided to give him all the DLC without approval or even discussion. Unfortunately, she has not been fired (even though this would get you fired literally anywhere else.)
The situation does not stop here, however. As Dr Disrespect (well known p---phile) and Asmongold both jumped in to defend Burnt Peanut, and then Burnt Peanut himself responded acting like "he didn't do nothing" (fun fact, he actually did call Chucky "Hidey Homo" during his Dead By Daylight games) and "there's always time to do something". Proceeded to read twitter callouts of him but not even mention the vapid harassment from his fanbase.
As of writing, I know of 2 big DBD content creators who are making videos about this, and one has already experienced the response by the Burnt Peanut community.
Edit: As promised, Behaviour dropped another update. Though they didn't say explicitly that Mandytalks was fired, it now appears unlikely she remains
Responses To Dead by Daylight's Second Response
The DbD team's second response and apology to the incident, made on November 2nd, 2026, inspired mixed reactions online.
That day, fellow streamer Asmongold commented under their X[9] post, writing, "Groveling and begging for the approval of mentally ill gender confused freaks after they doxxed and harassed one of your employees. Pathetic capitulation that will earn the respect of no one," garnering over 47,000 likes in a day and ratioing the post.
Around the same time, streamer and X[10] user Tectone commented, "A community of f---ots really is this fragile huh," garnering over 11,000 likes in a day.
