Every Man Has 2 Fantasies, also known as All Men Have 2 Fantasies, refers to a two-panel comparison format in which two contrasting fantasies, one violent and brutal and the other emotional, are compared against each other. The format gained popularity in September 2021 following a viral Reddit post.

Origin

On August 31st, 2021, Redditor Straight_Orchid2934 posted a two-panel comparison meme captioned "Every man has 2 fantasies" which used a Warhammer 40,000 artwork and a drawing of a woman consoling a man as an illustration. The images were captioned in contrasting ways, one illustrating desire to give one's life in a battle for a greater purpose and the other to be able not to act strong and open up emotionally. The post received over 60,500 upvotes in /r/dankmemes^[1] one month (shown below).

Spread

The image received viral spread online in early September 2021. On September 1st, Redditor^[2] luethi0306 reposted the image to /r/wholesomememes, where it gained over 6,200 upvotes prior to being removed. On the same day, Facebook^[3] page Tharja's House Of Booty & Life Insurance reposted the image, with the post gaining over 1,900 reactions and 1,300 shares in one month.

On August 31st, iFunny^[4][5] users Deadlic and iCrabMilker posted the earliest two derivative versions of the meme, parodying the original image, with the first post gaining over 4,00 smiles on the platform in one month (shown below, left).

Following the viral spread of the original image, the meme format achieved popularity on Reddit, Facebook and Instagram. For example, on September 1st, 2021, Redditor^[6] Eineron_456 posted a Hololive meme that gained over 6,000 upvotes in the /r/Hololive subreddit in one month (shown below, left). On September 6th, Instagram^[7] page starwars1980 posted a meme that gained over 13,600 likes in the same period (shown below, right).

The format maintained presence online in September and early October 2021.
