Trusting You Is My Decision, Proving Me Wrong Is Your Choice or What If I Break Your Trust Someday? refers to a viral fake SpongeBob Squarepants quote where SpongeBob asks Patrick Star, "What if I break your trust someday?" and Patrick replies, "Trusting you is my decision, proving me wrong is your choice." The earliest known meme sharing the quote was posted to JoyReactor from 9GAG in April 2011. Memes and posts attributing the quote to SpongeBob spread over the following years, although it never appears in the show.
Origin
On April 26th, 2011, an anonymous JoyReactor[1] user posted an image macro with a 9GAG watermark showing SpongeBob and Patrick sitting on the floor. The caption reads, "Spongebob: What if I break your trust someday? Patrick: Trusting you is my decision, proving me wrong is your choice" (shown below).

On July 21st, 2013, the @9GAG Twitter[2] page tweeted the quote, garnering over 3,000 likes in 10 years. On April 12th, 2014, 9GAG[3] user gabestela posted the original image macro, garnering over 23,000 upvotes in nine years. Throughout 2020 and 2021, the quote became increasingly popular. For example, on July 31st, 2020, Twitter[4] user @2AM_Gossips shared the quote, garnering over 1,200 likes in three years. On August 11th, Twitter[5] user @annswfffftttt posted the quote, garnering over 19,400 likes in the same rough span of time. On December 31st, 2021, Instagram[6] user lovely posted the quote, garnering over 219,000 likes in just over a year (shown below).
On April 20th, 2022, TikToker[7] @deargeet posted a video sharing the quote as one of her favorite lines from the show, garnering over 300,000 views in a year (shown below, left). The original sound inspired over 2,000 videos, including a lip dub posted by TikToker[8] @chukwuamaka_charity on June 18th, garnering over 5 million views in nine months (shown below, right).

The tweet was posted by Instagram[10] user squidyz that day, garnering over 49,000 likes in the same span of time. On December 12th, Twitter[11] user @AlgoAwesome made a similar post, garnering over 56,000 likes in three months (shown below, right).
On January 18th, 2023, Twitter[12] user @brycecarringto5 retweeted a post asking for lines from video games that give you goosebumps, writing the quote, garnering over 62,000 likes in two months (shown below). On February 21st, Facebook[13] page Pieces Of My Soul shared the quote, garnering over 170,000 reactions and 76,000 shares in two weeks.
