Fallout 76 Jacket refers to a jacket offered by Bethesda to Fallout 76 fans. In light of the game's recent bag controversy, fans parodied the announcement of the jacket by imagining the ways the jacket could be disappointing and not as-advertised.

Origin

On January 23rd, 2019, Bethesda announced via Twitter^[1] that a Fallout 76-themed jacket was available for purchase from the Bethesda store^[2] (shown below).

The jacket costs $276 and according to Bethesda comes with:

Original custom neck label issued from the vault
Black leather 76 patch on front
Metallic gold 76 appliqué on the back
Asymmetrical back seam, metallic gold piecing and bicep arm pads all inspired by the Vault Suit

Lined in silky, shiny taffeta fabric
Comes packaged inside a Fallout 76 garment bag

After the announcement, fans were quick to joke that the jacket would be similar to Bethesda's infamous Nylon Bag controversy, where Bethesda promised high-quality canvas bags to people who purchased the Fallout 76 premium edition yet received cheap nylon bags. User @OreoBlakesters posted "Not again," in reference to the controversy, gaining over 30 retweets and 850 likes (shown below, left). User @Wasteland76 tweeted a picture of a garbage bag with "76" written on it as a parody of what could be expected (shown below, right).

Other popular jokes include a tweet by @dmiralDubya that gained over 110 retweets and 1,100 likes (shown below, left). User @WastelandandDank also posted a garbage bag with "76" on it, gaining over 100 retweets and 1,600 likes (shown below, right). The jokes were covered by Barrellrolled.^[3]
