Freddy Five Bear or At Least They Don't Look Like Freddy Fazbear, also known as At Least They Don't Identify As Freddy Fazbear, is a series of memes in which videos of people sharing problematic opinions, often videos by TikToker @daterightstuff sharing transphobic ideas, are interrupted by a person or character awkwardly ranting about Freddy Fazbear from the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise, sometimes intentionally misspeaking his name as "Freddy Five Bear." The meme was started in July 2023 by TikToker @xenontf and went viral in January 2024 as other TikTokers began posting similar videos.

Origin

On July 29th, 2023, TikToker^[1] @xenontf posted a Stitch to a transphobic video by TikToker @daterightstuff where he says, "Teach your boys to become men before their teachers teach them to become women," in which @xenontf interrupts the TikToker after he says the phrase and says, "At least they're not being taught by Five Nights at Freddy's" and goes on an awkward rant about FNAF lore, almost mispronouncing Freddy Fazbear as "Freddy Five Bear" in the process, garnering over 2.4 million views in six months (shown below).

The TikToker continued to post similar videos over the following months, often as Stitches to the same TikToker. On October 6th, he posted one of these videos to TikTok^[2] that garnered over 3 million views in three months (shown below, left). On November 5th, he posted a video to TikTok^[3] that gained over 1.1 million views in two months (shown below, right). He posted another to TikTok^[4] on December 10th, garnering over 900,000 views in a month.

Spread

Following this, other TikTokers began posting versions of the meme, in which a fictional character interrupts the TikToker to rant about FNAF, often calling Freddy Fazbear "Freddy Five Bear." For example, on December 29th, 2023, TikToker^[5] @overweight_steve posted a version of the meme featuring Vegeta from the Dragon Ball franchise, gaining over 900,000 views in 2 months (shown below, left). On January 2nd, 2024, TikToker^[6] @buddyboy768 posted a video where an alien interrupts @daterightstuff, garnering over 40,000 views in two days (shown below, right).

On January 3rd, TikToker^[7] @johnmarstonbacon posted a version of the meme where Arthur Morgan from Red Dead Redemption 2 interrupts the TikToker, garnering over 900,000 views in under 24 hours (shown below, left). On the same day, TikToker^[8] @_bakeonsalad posted a version of the meme that garnered over 1.1 million views in a day (shown below, right).

Copypasta

Two different variations of the meme were turned into copypastas in early 2024 and shared on various sites and social media platforms.^[9] For example, one variant was posted on January 4th, 2024, to the /r/copypasta^[10] subreddit by Redditor slurpshlorp under the title "Freddy Fivebear," which received over 150 upvotes and seven comments in 10 months (seen below).

A day later on January 5th, 2024, Redditor XxXSisterfisterXxX then posted another variant of the Freddy Fivebear copypasta to the /r/copypasta^[11] subreddit under the title "at least they didn’t give birth to freddy fazbear," receiving over 240 upvotes and 10 comments in a similar timeframe.

at least they didn’t give birth to… freddy fazbear, because, if you give birth to, freddy fivebears, he comes out and he says “or, or, or or, or, or, or or, or or, and then he kills michael afton, or he tries to do it, along with his friends, bunny the bonnie, chica the kitchen, foxy the… fox pirate rawr, and yellow freddy, who’s yellow, and weird, and, but it’s not their fault! it’s all because william afton one day was like “hi i’m gonna murder people, ra!” so he murdered kids, but he was also a yellow bunny? and he was like “hi, i’m a yellow bunny, imma kill you” because he had a daughter? who had, like, remnant? gone from her? so he was like, “if i kill kids, i put them in the suits, so that it’s not, it’s not freddy fivebear fault, its actually purple guy fault” and that’s why you don’t give birth to him.
