On May 30, 2016, a user on YouTube by the name of theodd1sout comic posted a video named "The First Comic I EVER Made", in which he shows two fan-comics based on the comic Garfield by Jim Davis. Both comics had a Sunday comic panel which had a misspelling of Garfield, as Garfild.

As he reads the second comic, theodd1sout comic fails to recognize what it's about, so he offered a $23 reward to whoever can figure it out.

5 days later, on June 4th, 2016, he uploaded a video called "Garfild Comic Explained," where he talked about the ideas the YouTube public discussed. As it turns out, the comic was about how Garfield was putting on too much toothpaste on his toothbrush, and John asked him to put on a 'pea-sized' amount. After this, Garfield puts a ton of peas on the toothbrush.
