Good Grief He's Naked! refers to a scene in SpongeBob SquarePants in which Plankton exclaims "Good Grief, He's Naked!" after seeing Mr. Krabs nude. The scene, in particular the smooth, scarlet body of Krabs, gained popularity in memes and redraws.

Origin

The scene occurs in Season 3, Episode 41a of SpongeBob SquarePants titled "The Algae's Always Greener" which premiered in the United States in March of 2002.^[1] In the episode, Plankton switches lives with Mr. Krabs and enters an alternate universe in which he runs the Krusty Krab. In the course of the episode, Krabs arrives at the Krusty Crab and Plankton is surprised when he sees Mr. Krabs not wearing any clothes (scene shown below).

Starting in the early 2020s, the scene gained popularity, with several memes and redraws referencing to it. For example on December 17th, 2020, the Among Us Twitter / X^[2] official account quote retweeted art by @enosetc based on the scene. The tweet received more than 26,100 retweets and 264,500 likes in two years (shown below).

On October 7th, 2021, Reddit^[3] user OtaconHs uploaded photo of a painting based on the scene to the /r/BikiniBottomTwitter subreddit. The post received more than 11,400 upvotes in one year (shown below, left). On November 28th, 2021, Reddit^[4] user SlenderTube18 uploaded an edit of the scene to /r/OnePunchMan subreddit, which received more than 5,300 upvotes in one year (shown below, right).

On April 19th, 2023, Twitter / X^[5] user @umee01221 uploaded Pizza Tower fan art using the scene as reference. The tweet received more than 1,200 retweets and 8,400 likes in four months (shown below).
