Google Please Stop Showing Me Sex Ads, continued I Know There are Desperate Sluts In My Area, I Have a Mirror, is a catchphrase first popularized on Twitter in 2019 in reference to sexual or pornographic advertisements appearing in Google ads. In 2022, people began using the phrase in original memes and art, often of webcomic panels recaptioned with characters begging Google to stop displaying such ads.

Origin

On July 6th, 2019, Twitter^[1] user @jon_snow_420 posted, "google please stop showing me sex ads. i know there are desperate sluts in my area, i have a mirror," garnering over 16,000 likes and 4,800 retweets in three years (shown below). It was reposted to the subreddit /r/2meirl4meirl^[2] on October 25th, garnering over 3,000 upvotes in three years. It was also posted to Facebook^[3] that day, garnering over 6,700 reactions and 4,200 shares in a month.

On October 3rd, 2020, Tumblr^[4] user jurian-is-cinnamon-roll posted a meme using the tweet, garnering over 300 notes in two years. On October 15th, Tumblr^[5] user botgal posted a meme using the phrase over a panel from WonderLab^[10] episode 27, garnering over 13,000 notes in a month. It was reposted to /r/196,^[6] garnering over 7,100 upvotes in the same span of time. On October 20th, Twitter^[7] user @EuphoriTori posted it, garnering over 47,000 likes in a month.

On November 1st, Redditor RyufBoi posted a piece of fan art to /r/ChainsawMan^[8] using the phrase, garnering over 7,600 upvotes in 10 days (shown below, left). On November 3rd, Redditor FukaiMorii posted another meme using the phrase to /r/HolUp,^[9] garnering over 9,100 upvotes in a week (shown below, right).
