Greta Van Fleet's SNL Performance refers to an infamous live performance by American rock band Greta Van Fleet of their song "You're The One" on Saturday Night Live. In 2021, the performance, and particularly a segment featuring singer Josh Kiszka making several gestures and head movements, was parodied on TikTok.

Origin

On January 20th, 2019, Greta Van Fleet was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live, where they performed their songs "Black Smoke Rising" and "You're The One." During the performance of "You're The One," singer Josh Kiszka made several dramatic gestures and hand movements. One key moment would later become parodied on TikTok (shown below).


On July 15th, 2021, Kiska posted the clip to TikTok, gaining over 501,000 likes (shown below).

The clip spread widely around TikTok in a series of parodies where people mocked Kiska's gestures. User @jordantylerbytes posted a parody that gained over 270,000 likes (shown below, left). User @mereknee posted a parody where she mimicked Kiska, gaining over 266,000 likes (shown below, right).

The parody TikToks were covered by Junkee,[1] who also noted that several users mistook Kiszka for SNL cast member Pete Davidson.
