Harry Potter Chess Scene Remix refers to a popular offshoot of the Harry Potter Chess Scene meme that adds an electronic dance beat to the Wizard's Chess scene towards the end of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. The remix inspired dances and lipsync covers on TikTok.

Origin

On September 18th, 2023, TikToker frever_lizzie^[1] posted an example of the Harry Potter Chess scene meme in which 3D models of the cast do various dances as they act out the scene. The post gained over 508,000 likes in one month (shown below, left).

The following day, user @zeo_choons^[2] duetted the video, adding a backing track, gaining over 188,000 likes in the same time frame.

The remix inspired an offshoot of TikToks in which people danced and did lipsync covers. For example, on October 15th, 2023 user @nathanjay___ posted a dance that gained over 867,000 likes in four days (shown below, left). On October 8th, user @voodoomamajuju did the same, gaining over 616,000 likes in ten days (shown below, right). As of October 19th, 2023, over 1,700 videos have been made with the sound.^[3]
