After considerable thought on the mod editors' part, this entry has been deadpooled. The entry is outdated and is thus rendered obsolete. Peridot is not a homeworld gem anymore, and the term homeworld refers to gems other than Lapis, Peridot and Jasper themselves. Until these issues are resolved this entry will remain deadpooled.

About

"Homeworld Gems" is a collective, fan-dubbed name for the three major antagonists in Steven Universe, namely: Lapis Lazuli, Peridot, and Jasper (additionally, the fusion between Lapis Lazuli and Jasper, Malachite, can also be included). Albeit making appearances in the show at most only four episodes in the entire duration of the first season, the characters received positive feedback from the fans and has inspired multiple fan-art. Furthermore, an alternate universe where the homeworld gems are Steven's allies instead of the crystal gems is a popular enough concept that it has a single-topic blog reblogging various posts pertaining to the alternate universe.[12]

Lapis Lazuli

Lapis Lazuli is the first named major antagonist of the show, appearing in the first season's 25th episode 'Mirror Gem', which aired on September 25, 2014.[4] She was trapped in a mirror by the Crystal Gems until Steven set her free. She has powerful control over water, and is strong enough to amass all of Earth's oceans into a pillar that reaches outer space.

Online, fans are split on adoring and loathing Lapis. Debates on the matter are most prominent with the phrase "Lapis Lazuli did nothing wrong". Fans claim that she is an unfortunate victim whose actions are justified, while critics beg to differ by saying her actions (most powerful argument is the fact that she attempted to drown Steven and Connie,) are questionable at best.[9][10] KarpetSharks, a prominent tumblr artist, commented on the issue in one of her drawings of Lapis stating that despite in fact doing some things wrong, she is still an endearing character.[11]

A search for 'Lapis Lazuli Steven Universe' on the art-sharing website DeviantArt yields 4,971 results.[7] Various Fan-art examples below.

Peridot

Peridot is a frequently recurring antagonist from the show. Coming from the futuristic planet of the Homeworld Gems, her design is a triangular motif, made up of different shades of green. One of her most prominent features is her floating fingers. This was until it was revealed in the second season of the show that Peridot's 'fingers' were simply augmentations attached to her body aptly called 'limb enhancers'. Peridot's true form is much smaller and feeble in comparison to her initial appearance.
Peridot first appeared in the 36th episode of the first season titled “Warp Tour” which aired on January 8, 2015.[6] Peridot is one of the show's main villains, and is one of the three main Homeworld characters so far. Her personality is shown to be bitter, violent, overzealous, and childish as she is ignorant of Earth's history and the life that resides on it. Her limb enhancers allow her to work with gem technology, fly, and use various other resourceful abilities to complete her objectives and avoid trouble.[1]

Spread

Peridot’s popularity spread almost immediately after her debut, and can be tracked on multiple websites. On Youtube there are multiple fan made videos starring Peridot, from raps to animated comics and many more.

Green Dorito/Space Dorito

Green Dorito and Space Dorito are nicknames commonly used by SU fans for Peridot. The nickname refers to the fact that her hair is triangular, like a Dorito. Searching for “Green Dorito” on websites like Tumblr can almost bring up as many results as searching for her actual name.[2]

Jasper

Jasper is the final homeworld gem that made her appearance on the 48th and 49th episodes from the first season. "The Return" and "Jail Break" are the titles of the two-part season finale episodes that aired on March 12, 2015.[5] She came to Earth as Peridot's escort to ensure her safety during the mission. Jasper is known for being a strong, formidable opponent, capable of fighting Garnet -- the strongest member of the Crystal Gems -- toe-to-toe. Online, Jasper has adapted the moniker of "Big Buff Cheeto Puff," (clearly due to her built and color scheme,) which may have originated from a large vandalism attempt on the Steven Universe Wiki. Additionally, one of her quotes, 'Fusion is just a cheap tactic to make weak gems stronger', became infamous for both applying to fusion memes and for being an exploitable phrase. Her burly personality and steadfast demeanor typically has the fandom portray her as a musclebound athlete in fanworks.

Searching 'Jasper Steven Universe' on DeviantArt yields 3,907 results.[7] Various fan-art shown below.

Doctor Feelgood

Ah yes, that other insane, murderous villain that the fandom fell in love with.

"But she hasn't killed anyone!"
She sure as hell tried to, multiple times.

"But she's not insane!"
I sure as hell remember somebody working on that horrifying dead gem fusion monster.

"But she can TOTALLY be redeemed!"
Mind giving me even a scrap of evidence that hints to Peridot having any kind of chance at redemption?
"Pssh, that's easy-"
That isn't headcanon?
"…"

"She's like a Dorito!"
We're done here.
