Hood Saxophone or Boyz n the Hood Saxophone, also known as 90s Movie Saxophones, refers to a series of memes in which the saxophones from the Boyz n the Hood theme song are played over funny captions about hearing saxophones playing in the hood, framed as a sign that something bad is going to happen to you. The memes were popularized on TikTok at the end of December 2025, inspiring memes throughout early January 2026 about getting "slimed out" when you hear saxophones in the hood. The memes directly reference a scene from Boyz n the Hood where Ricky gets shot.
Origin
The Boyz n the Hood theme song was produced by Stanley Clarke for the 1991 crime-thriller film Boyz n the Hood. The song features the heavy use of saxophones throughout.[1] Notably, the song plays in a scene from the film where the character Ricky gets shot.
On December 30th, 2025, TikToker[2] @foreverhumblemarc96 posted a meme set to the song captioned, "POV: You in a 90s hood movie about to move out the trenches but you hear them saxophones going crazy so you know you finna get slimed," garnering over 806,000 views in just over a week.
