I Am Jose Mourinho is a quote originally said by association football manager Jose Mourinho in an ad for Topps stickers. The quote became a viral sound on TikTok in late April 2022 as it was paired with sketches in which the poster would lay out a simple scheme as a means of parodying their strategic genius.

Origin

On April 6th, 2022, Jose Mourinho appeared in an ad for Topps TV in which he set up his reputation as a highly egotistical manager and declared he would coach "all" the teams in the 2024 Euros tournament. In reality, it's an ad for Topps stickers of footballers who will appear in the tournament. At the beginning of the ad, he says, "I am Jose Mourinho" before listing off his accomplishments.

On April 30th, TikToker dylnfc^[1] posted a TikTok pairing the clip with a caption about adopting Ukrainian refugees to help him in mobile games, gaining over 271,000 likes in two weeks (post since deleted).

The audio became popularized as a sound on TikTok over the following weeks as people paired it with captions humorously setting up mildly strategic ideas as brilliant. For example, on May 13th, 2022, TikToker toonarmysean paired the audio with a caption about uploading his Tinder pictures upside down, gaining over 209,000 likes in three days (post since deleted).

On May 10th, Holly1farrell_ paired the sound with a scheme about getting a guy to lose interest, gaining over 105,000 likes in one week (shown below). The meme was also covered by The Tab^[2] on May 16th.
