On November 21st, 2021, former NBA player Kevin Garnett was featured as a guest host on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast. The episode was shared on YouTube^[1] that day, where it received over 1.1 million views and 18,000 likes in four years. At the episode's 24:39-minute mark (shown below), Gillie Da King asks Garnett, "Who's your starting 5?" Garnett lists Magic Johnson at the point guard position and then lists Kobe Bryant at the the 2 position, over Michael Jordan. When pressed on the choice, Garnett says, "I got Kobe at my 2."

The abovementioned video started a TikTok sound^[3] that was used by other creators in the following months. For instance, on December 29th, TikToker^[4] @cuzzinskeether posted a video with text reading, "When it's my turn to rank women going into 2025," receiving over 613,500 plays and 90,300 likes in 10 days (shown below).

Others added to the trend soon after, like TikToker^[5] @khaleel on January 2nd, 2025, who rated the "Best looking Disney moms," in which he put Amy Duncan from Good Luck Charlie at the 2 position, receiving over 3.7 million plays and 353,900 likes in six days (shown below).

By January 8th, 2025, the trend's primary TikTok sound^[3] had amassed over 9,400 videos.
