I May Need To See The Booty is part of a series of private messages sent to Instagram model Maryka by Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine. After a series of exchanges shared between the two were leaked to social media in September 2022, Levine's sexting began being parodied by social media users as a catchphrase and exploitable meme template where the text conversation was paired with various images, similar to "That Body of Yours Is Absurd." In particular, Adam Levine's request to "see the booty," followed by an emphatic "fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk," has been mocked by people on the internet who assert that the singer sounds like a pirate, among other things.

Origin

On September 19th, 2022, Instagram model Sumner Stroh posted a TikTok alleging that she had had a year-long affair with Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine and that Levine had asked her if he could name his child after her. The TikTok^[1] gained over 23.9 million views and nearly 2 million likes in four days (shown below).

On September 20th, 2022, Instagram^[2] user @IGFamousByDana posted a series of messages Levine allegedly sent to Maryka in which he complimented her "hourglass figure" and said, "I may need to see the booty" (shown below).

On September 20th, 2022, Twitter^[3] user @GalaxyPeaBrain posted a tweet commenting on Adam Levine's style of flirting with the "I may need to see the booty" message included, gathering over 300,000 likes and 19,000 retweets in three days (seen below).

That same day, Twitter^[4] user @jammy2560 posted an image of a pirate in response to the aforementioned tweet by @GalaxyPeaBrain and gathered over 17,000 likes and nearly 700 retweets, also in three days (seen below).

Also on September 20th, Twitter^[5] user @tapewormlover then posted a tweet about Levine sounding like a pirate, gathering over 140,000 likes and 14,000 retweets in three days (seen below).

By September 21st, the meme had gone viral and cross-platform, with Instagram^[6] page @pairofkingspod reposting their tweet to Instagram and gathering over 8,000 likes in two days (seen below, left). Instagram^[7] page @codebluememes posted about the text as well, gathering over 9,000 likes in a similar timeframe and adding that Adam Levine "texts like a 17-year-old" (seen below, right).

Adam Levine Cheating Scandal refers to allegations in September 2022 that Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine cheated on his wife, Victoria's Secret model Behati Prinsloo, with Instagram model Sumner Stroh and others. Levine later admitted to having flirtatious conversations with women over Instagram DMs but denied having an affair. The allegations sparked condemnations of Levine on social media, as well as jokes and memes about his flirtatious texts, particularly the messages "I may need to see the booty" and "That body of yours is absurd."

User @brittymigs^[8] posted an edit that used a picture of naked Hank Hill, gaining over 720 retweets and 9,200 likes in a similar time frame (shown below, right).
