About

If I Can Prove That I Never Touched Me Balls refers to a parody of Hamilton actor Lin-Manuel Miranda sung by a TikToker. After the video gained traction on the platform, other internet users edited the sound into Hamilton.

Origin

On August 18th, 2020, TikTok user @manlyhotdog posted a video of himself singing as Lin-Manuel Miranda in Hamilton, parodying a lyric from the song "We Know." In the musical, Miranda sings, "If I can prove that I never broke the law, do you promise not to tell another soul what you saw?" @manlyhotdog's version goes "If I can prove that I never touched my balls…" @manlyhotdog's account is locked, but the video was reuploaded to YouTube on September 22nd, 2020 by YouTuber Pandroid (shown below).

Spread

Shortly after @manlyhotdog posted his audio, an anonymous TikTok user posted an edit of the sound which included the portion of the musical before @manlyhotdog's parody. This was used in over 5,500 videos on the platform[2] (example shown below, left). On June 23rd, 2021, TikTok user @mik posted a remixed version of @manlyhotdog's audio with the appropriate music, gaining over 100,000 likes (shown below, right). The sound was used in over 24,000 videos.[1]
