About

I'm The Problem It's Me is a line said in the Taylor Swift song "Anti-Hero" as part of her Midnights album, released in late 2022. Within the context of the song (and a meta-context as a whole), the line refers to someone understanding that they are the cause of their own problems in the world, which led to it getting picked up as a trending original sound on TikTok shortly after its release in a trend where people would lip dub to it or play the lyric alongside an on-screen caption.

Origin

The song and accompanying music video were both released with the album's official launch on October 21st, 2022. The music video, posted to the official Taylor Swift YouTube[1] channel, accumulated over 78 million views in two months (shown below).

Spread

The same day as the release on October 21st, 2022, the Taylor Swift fan account wefoundswiftland[2] uploaded a clip from the music video to TikTok, with the soundbite being uploaded for others to use in their own TikToks. The original post gained over 41,500 likes in two months and the audio accumulated over (shown below) 323,000 videos using it within the same timeframe.

On October 27th, 2022, the TikTok account mostlythedoodle[3] uploaded a Dogshaming video in which the doodle was blamed as the reason for the owner not having a social life, set to the song file, and gaining over 2.1 million likes in two months (shown below) while also showcasing the most common use of the audio in showing a subject that is blamed for a problem using on-screen text.
