Incredible, Absolutely Phenomenal refers to a catchphrase used in ironic memes and comments. Originating from an ironic meme posted in July 2019, the expression gained popularity both in ironic demotivational memes and as an independent catchphrase.

Origin

On July 16th, 2019, Redditor^[1] iamcheg posted an ironic demotivational meme based on an image of a Lego monkey captioned "Incredible, Absolutely Phenomenal." The post received over 110 upvotes in /r/okbuddyretard in six months (shown below).

Spread

In the following days, the image received viral spread online with reposts on Twitter,^[2] iFunny^[3] and Instagram. On July 18th, 2019, the earliest known derivative of the meme was posted by iFunny^[4] user Dr_Lettuce (shown below, left). On July 19th, 2019, Redditor^[5] Bayafish posted a meme in which the caption repeated multiple times that received over 240 upvotes in /r/okbuddyretard (shown below, right). An August 10th, 2019, repost of the image in /r/ontheledgeandshit by Redditor^[6] Nsimo27 received over 1,200 upvotes.

Following frequent reposts both of the original meme and its reedited versions, the catchphrase "Incredible, Absolutely Phenomenal" gained recognition online, being used both as a caption for posts and as a text reply in the following months.
