About

"It Took Spongebob Years To Master This" is a series of remix videos in which Spongebob is depicted incorrectly playing a double bass. The noise from the double bass is frequently remixed into different songs.

Origin

The scene used in the videos originates from the Spongebob Squarepants episode "Naughty Nautical Neighbors". In the scene, Spongebob attempts to play a double bass, which he refers to as a bassinet, to impress Squidward. Spongebob then proceeds to incorrectly play the instrument, resulting in it falling apart.

YouTube user SupDawg444 later created a video mixing the scene with U. N. Owen Was Her on August 9th, 2009. The video has since gained over 150 thousand views in under 7 years.

Spread

The day after the first video, YouTube user MECHANIC1C REVIVAL AT WANQUAN6549 created a video combining the song with a remix of Gentle Breeze previously used in a Squidward Fad video (shown below, left). The video has since gained over 70 thousand views in under 7 years. Later, on August 11th, YouTube user levusbevus created a video combining the scene with the Level 1 song from the 1988 game Ghouls 'n Ghosts (Shown below, right). The video has since gained over 50 thousand views in under 7 years.
