It Would Be So Awesome, It Would Be So Cool refers to a viral video showing a low-res image of a Koopa from Super Mario as the opening lyrics to "My Super Hero Movie" from Teen Titans GO! To The Movies plays. The video was uploaded to YouTube in 2020 and went viral over the following years, inspiring variations where other images are set to the song.

Origin

On July 22nd, 2018, Teen Titans GO! To The Movies, a film based on Teen Titans GO! was released in theaters. In one scene, Robin sings a song about why he should be given a movie to a movie producer (shown below).

On July 10th, 2020, YouTuber^[1] babyjeff posted a video where the opening lyrics of the song play over a low-res image of a koopa, gaining over 2 million views in two years (shown below).

Spread

The video inspired variations over the following years, often edits of the original, videos where the song is placed over a new image or extended versions of the meme. For example, on June 6th, 2021, YouTUber^[3] FreezeCheese posted a video where the whole song plays over continually changing low-res Super Mario images, gaining over 160,000 views in a year (shown below).

On April 13th, 2022, YouTuber^[3] Morp43 posted a similar video, gaining over 313,000 views in a month (shown below, left). On May 19th, YouTuber^[4] KenMakesMemes posted a version of the meme using the Staring Donkey image, gaining over 212,000 views in a day (shown below, right).

On the same day, YouTuber^[2] Lessons In Meme Culture posted a video about the meme, gaining over 223,000 views in a day (shown below).
