About

Picture My Booty Up In 3D is a lyric from the song "My Super Hero Movie" from Teen Titans GO! to the Movies. Though the movie and song came out in 2018, the lyric became a popular subject for remixes and parodies in June of 2020.

Origin

In Teen Titans GO! to the Movies, released worldwide July 27th, 2018,[1] Robin sings a song imagining himself as the star of a superhero film. In the song, he sings the lyric, "Picture my booty up in 3D" (shown below).



On June 7th, 2020, Instagram user @luckynevx posted the earliest available isolated clip from the film. The post received more than 72,000 views and 6,900 likes in less than two months.



Spread

The moment began seeing parodies starting in June of 2020. On June 12th, Twitter user @apandahvevo posted the clip in isolation, gaining over 490 retweets and 3,300 likes (shown below).



In the next few days, the meme spread in the Steven Universe fandom, as users including MissingGlitch[2] and starchildgem[3] tweeted parodies of the lyric (shown below).




Parodies soon began appearing on YouTube. User BageltheBagel made a Taiko parody of the song, gaining over 8,000 views (shown below, left). User XDAta posted a YouTube Poop of the song, gaining over 110,000 views (shown below, right).
