Kamala Crash or Kamala Krash refers to a series of attacks and accusations made by former President Donald Trump toward Vice President and 2024 presidential candidate Kamala Harris, alleging she's partly responsible for the 2024 stock market crash around the world in early August of that year. The expression was then turned into the hashtag "#KamalaCrash" on X / Twitter, sparking memes and jokes relating the stock market dip to the Democratic presidential nominee.

Origin

On August 5th, 2024, former United States President Donald Trump made a series of posts^[1][2] on his social media platform Truth Social blaming the 2024 stock market crash on Vice President Kamala Harris, dubbing it the “Kamala Crash.” Trump said in a post (seen below, top), "THE GREAT DEPRESSION OF 2024! You can’t play games with MARKETS. KAMALA CRASH," which amassed over 30,000 likes and 8,800 reposts in a day.

Trump then posted "TRUMP CASH vs. KAMALA CRASH," which received more than 28,800 likes and 8,400 reposts in a day (seen below. bottom).

Shortly after Donald Trump posted the "Kamala Crash" expression on his social media, his supporters started to use the term on X and Reddit alongside memes and jokes targeting Kamala Harris.

For instance, on August 6th, 2024, X^[3] user @CowboySensei_ posted a montage of Kamala over negative stock market numbers in which she talks about "Bidenomics" (seen below), amassing roughly 580 views and 10 likes in a few hours.

On August 5th, 2024, Redditor PotatoUmaru^[4] posted a montage video to the subreddit /r/Conservative mixing Kamala's quotes with news outlets headlines about the 2024 stock market crash (seen below), amassing over 760 upvotes and 300 comments in a day.
