Origin

The exact origin of the expression is unknown. On October 16th, 2018, Redditor ^[1] blueburter2 posted the thread "Sans club lookin kinda quirky doe" on the /r/okbuddyretard subreddit. In the threat, they posted an image macro of a photograph of the Sam's Club retail store with a misspelled sign. The image was captioned, "Where is this store located / I want to be part of the sans club please tell me." The post received more than 150 points (99% upvoted) and 10 comments in four months.

Spread

On October 19th, YouTuber Pigrain posted a video entitled "Reasons why I'm quirky doe." The post received more than 2,500 views in four months (shown below, left).

The following month, Redditor^[2] SavageGod posted an image mash-up of Squidward and Freddy Fazbear from Five Nights at Freddy's.
