Ladies Take Notes refers to a viral tweet of a mock conversation between a man and someone attempting to hack their personal online accounts. The tweet, which spread in late December 2019, inspired parodies and conversation.
Origin
On December 26th, 2019, Twitter[1] user @nickturani tweeted, "Ladies take notes! Met this girl online YESTERDAY, and she’s already trying to learn more about me, not just hook up. It’s called conversation. Learn it." In addition, he included a mock conversation between himself and "My Baby," a model for the Shutterstock stock photography, in which she attempts to suss out personal information using online password security questions (shown below). The post received more than 800,000 likes and 129,000 retweets in less than one week.
Spread
Following the post, @nickturani shared more photographs of "My Baby," all of which featured Shutterstock watermark.[2] They captioned the post, "She’s got a few cute friends i can introduce you to." The post received more than 48,000 likes and 935 retweets in less than one week (shown below, left).
Some posted variations of the conversation, editing the message to include other memes and specifics (examples below, center and right).
Some, however, were mocked for appearing to not understand the joke. Twitter[4] Y2SHAF tweeted, "i think she might be trying to log onto your online banking." The post received more than 61,000 likes and 21,000 retweets in less than two days (shown below).
On December 27th, Twitter[3] published an Events page on the tweet.
