Lavender Sharpie Drama, also known as Lavender Sharpie Slideshow, Lavender Marker Drama or Marker Story Slideshow refers to a series of TikTok photo slideshows that made drama stories with Sharpie markers in so-called "Marker High," centering on the "homewrecker" character Lavender. Posted in October 2023, the color-coded Sharpie characters gained fandom and memes on TikTok, started by the account @welovemarkers, prompting online discussions and hoaxes about the fictional lavender marker character.
Origin
On October 7th, 2023, TikTok[1] user @welovemarkers uploaded a series of images of markers as if they were teens in high school, telling a story of how the lavender marker stole the boyfriends of the most popular girls at the school. The post (shown below) amassed over 25 million plays and 3.5 million likes in five days.
Spread
The story spread widely on TikTok in a few days, inspiring people to throw hoaxes at the fictional character. For instance, on October 9th, 2023, TikTok[2] user @appletiktoks posted a video stating her hate for the lavender marker (shown below, left), which amassed more than 6 million plays and 1 million likes in three days. On October 10th, TikTok[3] user @sarahadamsdesign uploaded a video paired with the overlay text "I've been a lavender stan for a long time but I can't support this move," which received over 5 million plays and 571,000 likes in two days.
