We see this impacting -5% of games, but think we can get it quite a bit lower with the adjustments going in the micropatch. We will be shortening the times that they are active on Top and Mid. * 3:30 >>> 3:00 in top * 3:30 >>> 2:15 in mid A few clarifications on behavior: 1. Due to localization (translation constraints), we weren't able to get a differentiation between "Warning: Lane Swap Detected" and "Lane Swap Detected, you're punished" for 15.5. You are only being punished if you have the debuff. The first time the warning pops up, there is no actual penalty applied and this warning range is applied quite liberally to give players warnings that something will happen soon. We will get a differentiation on "hey, please leave the area" and "this is being applied" for 15.6. 2. It also lets midlaners get away with poor gameplay blindly pushing as long as they vaguely track jungle paths in the early game, some people might like this but it isn't really appropriate to change the entire games dynamic because of a pro play change. No idea why they extended the midlane lane swap timer so high after the original PBE timer which was close to 2:15. To better illustrates why "duhhhh just stay in lane" is dumb - imagine a lane of draven Leona Vs apehlios Sona. Sona lane has no way at all to contest this especially level 1-2, so they stay in xp range and aphel picks up a few minions but mostly don't touch the wave. It is about to crash into the tower, the Leona player can now roam mid and well has to because they can't dive this early, they have nothing to do in botlane for a bit and draven is perfectly safe in 1v2 with the huge wave. By using this lane swaps mechanic you have killed a core macro play to punish the Sona.

r/leagueoflegends ⚫ 2 days ago TheRealidrk3 The new anti-lane swap mechanic is awful Discussion Just played one game and it was enough to see how this doesn't make sense for solo queue: I played midlane > my bot lane gets prio while enemy bot is resetting and roams mid > enemy mid laner dies lvl 3 > 1 took most of the cannon wave without them being in exp range > got less gold for the minions and exp > Enemy mid laner tp's back and gets 2 melee and 2 casters of that wave in exp > Only farmed 1 caster and 1 melee, equals my gold even though i farmed the entire cannon wave > Gets half a level of xp lead on me even though I didn't lose a single minion from the cannon wave or the next wave. (All this while getting a yellow text spamming in my screen for the whole time) This is High Emerald/Low Diamond, where basically me and my team got punished for playing well in the early game, and the enemy mid laner got a lead from missplaying, I have never even seen lane swap in solo queue this split, why should this be in the regular game and not only in pro play?

On March 6th, 2025, YouTuber and LoL player Azzapp[5] posted a video complaining about the anti-lane swap patch, which received roughly 32,000 views and 1,300 likes in a day.
