"Twinkle Twinkle Little Bitch" is a song by musician and TikToker Leah Kate that remixes the lyrics of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" into a song about a break-up with an ex-boyfriend. The song was teased on TikTok in May 2022 and released in June, becoming the subject of criticism by people who found it cheesy, generic and overproduced.

Origin

On May 6th, TikToker[1][2] and musician @leahkatemusic posted a video teasing her new song "Twinkle Twinkle Little Bitch," writing, "took twinkle twinkle little star and turned it into a song about my ex titled twinkle twinkle little bitch," gaining over 270,000 views in two months (shown below, left). The next day she posted another video showing an alleged string of text messages she sent to her ex-boyfriend consisting of the song's lyrics, gaining over 230,000 views in two months (shown below, right). On the same day, she posted a teaser to Twitter,[3] gaining over 2,200 likes and 7,700 quote-retweets, the majority criticizing the song.

On May 11th, @leahkatemusic posted a video to TikTok[4] where she showcases some of the hate retweets for her preview of the song, gaining over 2 million views in two months (shown below). She continued to promote the song using snippets over the following weeks, with some TikTokers making videos lip dubbing to it and others making videos criticizing it under the original sound.[5]

On June 24th, Leah Kate released the song officially alongside a music video. The announcement post on TikTok[6] gained over 4 million views in a month. The music video gained over 636,000 views on YouTube[7] in the same span of time (shown below).

"Twinkle Twinkle Little Bitch" continued to receive criticism after its official release. On July 5th, 2022, TikToker[8] @amanuelisurcrush posted a video set to the song saying it should be deleted, gaining over 7.2 million views in a month (shown below, left). On July 29th, TikToker[9] @purgatori_247 posted a video set to the sound of people at Kate's concert pretending to record her, gaining over 3 million views in five days (shown below, right).
