Literal Trailers are a series of movie trailer parodies dubbed with an alternate voice-over describing the visual narrative, editing style and special effects. Produced by YouTuber Tobuscus, the series is meant to be a satirical commentary on cliches often found in film previews in the style of Literal Music Videos.

Online History

On December 8th, 2009, YouTuber Tobuscus, whose real name is Joe Turner,[1] uploaded a video titled "LITERAL Clash of the Titans Trailer Parody" which featured Turner singing a play-by-play of the action sequences and special effects in the Clash of the Titans trailer. As of February 2014, the video has over 4 million views. Turner turned "Literal Trailers" into a series which as of February has more than 30 videos.

Spread

On September 2nd, 2010, Tobbuscus uploaded a Literal Trailer for the video game Assassins Creed. The video gained over 37.7 million views and over 110,000 comments, making it the series' most popular video. Its second most popular video, created for Assassins Creed Revelations, was uploaded on June 21st, 2011, and has over 21 million views.

On November 8th, 2012, Turner's Literal Trailer for Iron Man was featured on Buzzfeed,[2] and on January 22nd, 2014 his Literal Trailer for Game of Thrones'fourth season was featured on Mashable.[3]
