About
Lizzo Has Taken X, also known as Lizzo Has Acquired X or Lizzo Has Stolen X, refers to a series of jokes and memes imagining pop singer Lizzo acquiring a fictional or historical item of tremendous importance, typically with the phrasal template replacing the word at the end followed by an image. The jokes parody the conservative backlash to Lizzo playing fourth American President James Madison's crystal flute during a concert in Washington, D.C. in late September 2022.
Origin
On September 27th, 2022, Lizzo was given the opportunity to play James Madison's crystal flute during her Washington, D.C. concert by the Library of Congress (shown below).

The moment caused some backlash from conservatives online, some of whom claimed the performance was degrading to American history since it included Lizzo briefly twerking, though others found this line of reasoning disingenuous. One of the first tweets to mock the backlash by claiming Lizzo had taken something of great importance was posted on September 29th, 2022, by Twitter user @IWriteOK,[1] who joked, "Lizzo has stolen Winston Churchill's Theremin," gaining over 600 retweets and 7,100 likes in three days (shown below).
Spread
Over the following days throughout late September and early October 2022, jokes about Lizzo acquiring important items continued to spread on Twitter and grow more creative, as many users began using Photoshop to edit images of Lizzo absconding with historical and fictional artifacts.
On October 2nd, 2022, Twitter user @chrissyxchip[2] joked that Lizzo had acquired Frostmourne, a sword from World of Warcraft, gaining over 4,400 retweets and 38,000 likes in less than 24 hours (shown below, left). On September 30th, Twitter user @joshcarlosjosh[3] made a joke about Lizzo acquiring the Infinity Gauntlet, gaining over 4,000 retweets and 46,000 likes in two days (shown below, right).
