About

Luigi Mangione refers to the Suspected UnitedHealthcare CEO Shooter, the gunman who assassinated UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in New York City on December 4th, 2024. Luigi Mangione was detained at a McDonald's in Altoona, Pennsylvania on December 9th. On his person, he reportedly had a manifesto, a fake ID and a "ghost gun" that matched the description of the firearm used to kill Thompson. Mangione notably received a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Science in Engineering from Penn State University. Initially, the assassin and main "person of interest" was unidentified. The shooter had escaped the scene of the crime outside of the Hilton Hotel in Midtown, Manhattan, fleeing on an e-bike to Central Park. Both before and after his identity was revealed, the shooter was widely celebrated on social media sites like Twitter / X, TikTok and Reddit, often portrayed as a hero who challenged the perceivably corrupt American healthcare system. This positive perception was compounded when the words "Deny, Defend, Depose" were discovered on the bullet shell casings, in reference to the 2010 expose Delay, Deny, Defend. Photos of the shooter from CCTV cameras at a Starbucks and at an Upper West Side hostel (where he reportedly stayed) before the murder went viral on social media in the days following the event. Many also debated whether or not it was the same man as their jackets appeared different. Others raved about the suspect being attractive and thirsted over him in viral memes. After Mangione was detained in Altoona, the news went viral on social media, prompting a slew of memes and other reactions. After his mugshots were released, a conspiracy theory that Luigi Mangione was not the shooter spread online, largely focusing on his eyebrows seemingly being different from the ones on the suspect in the Manhattan Starbucks. Also, a campaign called Free Luigi Mangione was started online.

Detainment

On December 9th, 2024, Luigi Mangione was detained at a McDonald's in Altoona, Pennsylvania. An elderly person reported him because he matched the description of the UnitedHealthcare CEO shooter. On his person, police discovered a manifesto (reportedly related to gripes with the healthcare industry), a fake New Jersey ID (reportedly the same ID used at the UWS hostel) and a "ghost gun" that matched the description of the murder weapon.[1]

Alleged Manifesto

On December 10th, 2024, independent journalist Ken Klipperstein shared a Substack [22] post publishing the manifesto found on Luigi Mangione at the time of his detainment (shown below). Many fake manifestos were circulating online beforehand. Major news outlets had cited the manifesto but hadn't published it outright.

Klipperstein publicized it on his X[23] account, receiving over 1.1 million views and 15,000 likes in a few hours.

"To the Feds, I'll keep this short, because I do respect what you do for our country. To save you a lengthy investigation, I state plainly that I wasn't working with anyone. This was fairly trivial: some elementary social engineering, basic CAD, a lot of patience. The spiral notebook, if present, has some straggling notes and To Do lists that illuminate the gist of it. My tech is pretty locked down because I work in engineering so probably not much info there. I do apologize for any strife of traumas but it had to be done. Frankly, these parasites simply had it coming. A reminder: the US has the #1 most expensive healthcare system in the world, yet we rank roughly #42 in life expectancy. United is the [indecipherable] largest company in the US by market cap, behind only Apple, Google, Walmart. It has grown and grown, but as our life expectancy? No the reality is, these [indecipherable] have simply gotten too powerful, and they continue to abuse our country for immense profit because the American public has allwed them to get away with it. Obviously the problem is more complex, but I do not have space, and frankly I do not pretend to be the most qualified person to lay out the full argument. But many have illuminated the corruption and greed (e.g.: Rosenthal, Moore), decades ago and the problems simply remain. It is not an issue of awareness at this point, but clearly power games at play. Evidently I am the first to face it with such brutal honesty."

Online History

Luigi Mangione's online presence quickly became a prominent topic around the internet after authorities unveiled his name in mid-December 2024. Mangione has a social media presence on Instagram[3] as @luigi.from.fiji, on Twitter / X[4] as @pepmangione and on Facebook.[5] Many of his accounts, however, were privated or taken down in the hours following his reveal.

On X, he engaged with and promoted content from Elon Musk, Andrew Huberman and people in the crypto and AI sphere.

After he was detained, users engaged with some of his old tweets, like one reply he shared on X[6] on May 24th, 2024. It read, "Pretty huge dick," when replying to another user asking about people who have PhDs. The tweet received over 2,600 likes in seven months (shown below). Many X[12] users reposted the tweet and it went viral after Mangione was detained.

X[15] user @1234KYLE5678 also shared a tweet including a screenshot of Mangione's Goodreads review of Ted Kaczynski's (the Unabomber) book Industrial Society and Its Futures (shown below).

Luigi Mangione rated a book ALMATY 2329 Industrial Society and Its Future by Theodore John Kaczynski Want to Read Rate this book Clearly written by a mathematics prodigy. Reads like a series of lemmas on the question of 21st century quality of life. It's easy to quickly and thoughtless write this off as the manifesto of a lunatic, in order to avoid facing some of the uncomfortable problems it identifies. But it's simply impossible to ignore how prescient many of his predictions about modern society turned out. - He was a violent individual rightfully imprisoned - who maimed innocent people. While these actions tend to be characterized as those of a crazy luddite, however, they are more accurately seen as those of an extreme political revolutionary. A take I found online that I think is interesting: "Had the balls to recognize that peaceful protest has gotten us absolutely nowhere and at the end of the day, he's probably right. Oil barons haven't listened to any environmentalists, but they feared him. When all other forms of communication fail, violence is necessary to survive. You may not like his methods, but to see things from his perspective, it's not terrorism, it's war and revolution. Fossil fuel companies actively suppress anything that stands in their way and within a generation or two, it will begin costing human lives by greater and greater magnitudes until the earth is just a flaming ball orbiting third from the sun. Peaceful protest is outright ignored, economic protest isn't possible in the current system, so how long until we recognize that violence against those who lead us to such destruction is justified as self-defense. These companies don't care about you, or your kids, or your grandkids. They have zero qualms about burning down the planet for a buck, so why should we have any qualms about burning them down to survive? We're animals just like everything else on this planet, except we've forgotten the law of the jungle and bend over for our overlords when any other animal would recognize the threat and fight to the death for their survival. Luigi Mangione Is Not the Shooter Conspiracy Theory

A conspiracy theory that Luigi Mangione was not the perpetrator spread online in December 2024. Theorists compared the eyebrows of each individual in the security camera photographs released by the NYPD amid its investigation. Many believed that Mangione's eyebrows started closer together compared to those of the suspect in the Starbucks on the morning of the murder. Others believed that Mangione wasn't the killer for other reasons, like the fact that he did not admit to the crimes when taken into custody. Others believed that the evidence on Mangione, when detained in the Altoona, PA McDonald's, was too obvious and could have been planted on him, possibly making him a scapegoat.

Tobacco CEOs are absolutely not more honest. Up until the 2000s, cigarette companies spent decades hiding evidence of how harmful they are, lobbying, outright fabricating studies, used media as a propaganda tool to encourage people to smoke by making it look "cool", the list goes on. Hell, R.J Reynolds Tobacco had massive marketing campaigns directly targeting kids with Joe Camel. Whether it's through deception, peer pressure, or even getting children hooked before they can know better, Big Tobacco wants nothing more than to trick people to pick up smoking. They are about as morally bankrupt as a company can get, and practically relished that fact for as long as they could get away with it.

The only reason "cigarettes are bad" became common knowledge was because people fought like hell to force tobacco companies to be honest about their product. Now Big Tobacco is so heavily regulated that smoking as a whole has fallen off a cliff in the past few decades. Which is what needs to happen here, the people need to fight like hell to either make sure these insurance companies are regulated to hell and back, or abolished altogether in favor of a more beneficial system.

And some McJob wage slave of all people is the one who rats him out, all for the $60K bounty that the pigs are of course now refusing to pay out now that they have their man.

Man, this pisses me off something fierce. Hope you liked the taste of that boot on your face, class traitor. You ruined it for everyone. You proved to the elites that they'll always have willing quislings eager to do the work for them so long as they wave their money around, without even spending it in the end.

God, whoever snitched better watch their goddamn back. They're gonna have a target painted on them for a long time, and they 100% deserve it. Way to reinforce the corporatocratic hegemony, you idiot!
