Mesugaki Miku is an alternate version of Hatsune Miku designed as a mesugaki. The character was created by artist Nunununununununununununununununu and made her official premiere in a December 2024 Vocaloid anime music video "Mimukauwa Nice Try," in which Mesugaki Miku plays Uno. The character garnered controversy that month for being considered a lolicon and lolibait due to being a "mesugaki," which essentially means "sassy brat." The character sparked debates over the ethics of listening to the song and drawing and sharing fan art of the character.

Origin

On November 20th, 2024, X^[1] user and artist @N____________u, commonly referred to as NuNuNu, posted a short GIF teaser for their upcoming AMV, teasing the starring character Mesugaki^[13] Miku, garnering over 24,000 likes in three weeks. The artist posted two more short teasers to X^[2][3] on December 3rd and 4th, garnering over 6,000 and 17,000 likes respectively.

On December 6th, the artist posted the full AMV for "Mimukauwa Nice Try" to X^[4] and YouTube,^[5] garnering over 106,000 likes and 19,000 reposts on the former and 3.9 million views on the latter in a week. In the video, Mesugaki Miku plays Uno while teasing and taunting her opponent. Notably, she is seen wearing a shirt printed with the words "you are an idiot", a reference to the website of the same name.

The song and character inspired fan art. It also inspired controversy, with many seeing the character as a lolicon. On December 9th, 2024, TikToker^[6] @prezoskulo posted a clip from the video defending people who want to enjoy the song, writing, "'y-you can't listen to this song cause its lolibait!!!' Bro y'all did the same with rabbithole just stfu and enjoy the song," garnering over 130,000 views in four days.

On the same day, u/teenagerobot posted a piece of SFW fan art depicting Mesugaki Miku to /r/hatsune,^[7] garnering over 3,800 upvotes in four days. On December 10th, u/TinTeiru posted a piece of ar to /r/hatsune^[8] depicting Miku playing Uno and teasing the other player, garnering over 3,200 upvotes in the same span of time.

That same day TikToker^[9] @annielovesfoodnomnom2 posted a video calling Mesugaki Miku "lolibait," garnering over 352,000 views in three days.

On December 11th, X^[10] user @SkySolsa quote-reposted the original post sharing the music video, writing, "quoting this and saying anything against it will get you 500 unnamed pedphiles swarming on you like you just dropped down a fucking beehive," garnering over 30,000 likes in two days.

On December 12th, YouTuber^[11] Little Nii posted a version of the music video that has been translated into English, garnering over 68,000 views in a day.

That same day, X^[12] user @ChaiB33 posted a screenshot defining "mesugaki," writing, "'This song isn't lolibait people are crazy' Dude… the designer themselves named them mesugaki miku… like……………..," garnering over 3,600 likes in a day.
