Men 🍺 or Men Beer Emoji is the masculine variation of the Women ☕ / Women Coffee Emoji trend that humorously laughs at female blunders. On the contrary, Men 🍺 humorously expresses male triumph through stoic nonchalantless accompanied by the aesthetic of sipping beer. It started on TikTok in early 2022, later spreading to Reddit and elsewhere.

Origin

On May 21st, 2022, TikToker^[1] dojiland posted a Doja Cat video with a caption reading "'Woman ☕️' 'Men🍺 ' just stfu." The video riffed on the then-recent surge of "Women ☕" memes on the platform and received over 900 plays and 100 likes in five months (shown below). It is currently the first known reference to the term online.

Spread

On May 23rd, 2022, TikToker^[2] haiiseletiktokeur posted a similar video as the aforementioned one, gaining roughly 1,700 plays and over 230 likes in five months (shown below, left). On May 24th, 2022, TikToker^[3] dorian_rbn posted a video that specifically cut out the "wo-" prefix of "women" so that the Team Fortress 2 characters were just saying, "men," and laughing. Additionally, the TikToker wrote in text overlay, "Men 🍺." Over the course of five months, the video received roughly 50,900 plays and over 500 likes (shown below, right).

On July 7th, 2022, YouTuber ^[4] T ZEE – T Z33R reposted a TikTok to the platform, titling the video, "MEN 🍺😂," due to its satirical glorification of what "BOYS BE LIKE." Over three months, the video received over 5,100 views (shown below).

On July 19th, 2022, Redditor indiePlaya posted a video to the /r/discordVideos^[5] subreddit, gaining roughly 9,100 upvotes in three months (shown below). The video was a scene from the Disney Channel show The Suite Life On Deck featuring the character Cody as a news caster telling men, "Let's shoot for 40!" in regards to the income gap between men and women in America. Redditor indiePlaya captioned the video, "Men 🍺," being the first to do so on the platform.
