Content and Purpose
The metal nut meme is a forced meme from the leaked 2018 memes calendar which was posted on /r/dankmemes by user SoldMySoulToReddit on December 11th, 2017. It shows a metal nut as a symbol of male masturbation and was supposed to be meme of the month in January 2018. As the new year started, users began to interpret the meme and posted various images featuring a metal nut on /r/dankmemes and /r/me_irl.
Variations
As of January 3rd, 2018, the only known variations are posts criticising the meme and a variation of Esther Verkest's help sign .
