Bootleg Metal Sonic Plush "Hue Hue Hue" or Metal Sonic Singing refers to a series of memes in which images of a bootleg plushie Metal Sonic doll with a long nose from Sonic the Hedgehog are attributed with a stripped back version of the song "Stardust Speedway" that sounds like it repeats the sound, "hue hue hue." While the Metal Sonic plush has been the subject of memes throughout the 2020s, the original meme using the "hue hue" song was posted by YouTuber T4thDoH in late December 2024, inspiring further memes on sites like X / Twitter and TikTok over the following weeks, including fan art memes drawing Metal Sonic in the style of the doll.
Origin
A specific bootleg Metal Sonic plush, purportedly associated with the game Sonic: The Fighters, became the subject of memes as early as 2021. For example, on August 26th, 2021, Redditor u/shootyrefutey posted a piece of art to the subreddit /r/SonicTheHedgehog[12] of Metal Sonic handing the bootleg plush forward, garnering over 500 upvotes in four years.
On December 21st, 2024, YouTuber[1] T4thDoH posted a video to Shorts consisting of an image of a Metal Sonic doll set to a stripped-back version of the Sonic the Hedgehog song "Stardust Speedway"[2] from Sonic CD with one part isolated that sounds like "hue hue hue" on repeat, garnering over 14,000 views in about two months. He also posted the video to Instagram[3] as a Reel, garnering over 343,000 views in the same span of time. This is the earliest known version of the meme.
The same content creator continued to post videos using the same track over the same image of Metal Sonic to significant success.
For example, on January 26th, 2025, he posted a version of the meme to YouTube[4] and Instagram[5] that gained over 6,500 views on the former and 207,000 on the latter in two weeks.

On January 21st, 2025, TikToker[6] @reppe_4 posted a version of the meme using the misheard song lyric format, garnering over 1.2 million views in three weeks.
On January 26th X[7] user @Jokestrs reposted the meme, garnering over 43,000 likes in two weeks. On January 30th, YouTuber[8] RebelLotus 29905 reuploaded @Jokestrs' meme, garnering over 300,000 views in two weeks.

On January 31st, 2025, TikToker[9] @sgsamdaman posted a video talking about how obsessed he is with the Metal Sonic meme, garnering over 588,000 views in two weeks.

On February 6th, X[10] user @damyrax posted a comic in which Amy Rose expresses her love for Metal Sonic, who is drawn to resemble the Metal Sonic doll from the memes and is shown saying "hue hue hue," garnering over 4,200 likes in five days.
On February 9th, 2025, X[11] user @spacedawgspace posted a piece of fan art showing Metal Sonic stabbing another character through the chest with his nose (similar to the Sephiroth Impaling Mario meme), writing, "nah, I’d hue hue hue" (referencing the Nah I'd Win meme), garnering over 21,000 likes and 1,900 reposts in two days.
