"Needs So Much Therapy" Alignment Chart refers to a Blorbo Alignment Chart used to distribute characters from a certain fandom on two scales: how much they need therapy and how willingly they would attend therapy. Created in January 2023, the exploitable meme format has seen use on Tumblr and other sites since.

Origin

On January 22nd, 2023, Tumblr^[1] user yardsards proposed an idea for a Blorbo Alignment Chart with one axis distributing characters by how much they need therapy and the other axis by how willing they would be to attend it. Later that day, Tumblr^[2] user thoughtsofjess replied with a visual representation of the described chart (shown below).

On February 27th, Tumblr^[3] user sorry-i-panicked posted another version of the chart (shown below). The thread garnered over 3,900 reblogs and 6,500 likes on Tumblr in one year.

Spread

On March 6th, 2023, Tumblr^[4] user muni-ohnaruto made the earliest notable post based on the latter version of the chart, distributing characters from the D4DJ franchise on it (shown below, left). On the same day, Redditor UltimateStellar posted the chart in the /r/D4DJ^[5] subreddit, where it gained over 80 upvotes in one year.

On June 22nd, Tumblr^[6] user graham-cracker-guillotine posted a Bat-Family version of the chart, with the post garnering over 4,200 likes and reblogs in one year (shown below, right).

The chart saw more use on Tumblr and other sites in 2023 and 2024. For example, on August 29th, 2023, Redditor readytheenvy posted an unOrdinary version of the meme that received over 200 upvotes in /r/unOrdinary^[7] one year (shown below).
