Bring Some Coke to the Party refers to a Blorbo Chart that distributes characters from a certain fandom on a triangle-shaped alignment chart based on their reaction to being asked to bring "coke" to a party. The exploitable meme format has been used on Tumblr and Reddit since 2020.
Origin
On February 27th, 2020, an unknown Redditor posted a template for a triangle-shaped alignment chart meant for distributing characters based on what they do when asked to bring some coke to the party, with the possible reactions being bringing Coca-Cola, Pepsi and cocaine, as "coke" is a common slang term for the drug. The template (shown below) received over 2,400 upvotes in the /r/AlignmentCharts[1] subreddit in four years.
In 2020, the earliest memes based on the exploitable were shared on Tumblr and Reddit. On March 14th, Tumblr[2] user sugarglider-s posted the earliest discovered edit of the template, a Sander's Sides meme that garnered over 3,200 reblogs and likes in four years (shown below).
Spread
On February 22nd, 2021, Redditor StraightBiology posted a history meme distributing the World War II leaders Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin and Franklin Roosevelt on the chart. The meme (shown below) accrued over 40,000 upvotes in the /r/HistoryMemes[3] subreddit in four years.
The format saw a surge in popularity in June 2021 when multiple versions of it were posted on Tumblr and other social media. For example, on June 17th, 2021, Facebook[4] user Lamine Slord posted an American Psycho version of the meme that garnered over 730 reactions in three years (shown below).
