Origin

On December 10th, 2023, Argentina's president, Javier Milei, said "No hay plata" which translates as "There is no money [in the country]," and that there is no alternative "to adjust and shock" during his first official speech for his supporters in front of Congress. His comment about Argentina's current economic estate was posted on YouTube[1] by the news channel LibertadDigital, amassing over 36,000 views and 903 likes in a day.

Online, Milei's quote was heavily at the center of political debates and memes. For example on December 10th, 2023, X[2] user @soyunargento posted a video of MIlei's supporters reacting to his speech, which garnered over 908,000 views and 30,000 likes in a day (shown below).



On the same day, x[3] user @pia_dmn uploaded a video of women dancing to represent Milei's support listening to him saying the "There is no money" line. The post (shown below) received more than 78,000 views and 4,900 likes in a day.
