Thought this was worth sharing

Krudd The Barbarian 5 days ago 34:00 This film's not bound by characters it's a visual affair." Yes, it's a f------ art film, the story is told through the VISUALS and the MUSIC. The scary monsters have no character because they are VISUAL ALLEGORIES For those of you who actually care about the history of The Wall; the character of Pink is based on Roger Waters's former bandmate and friend, Syd Barrett who left the band after the second album and fell into a deep decline, quitting music entirely and sinking into a deep drug induced depression up until his death in 2006. The Wall also represents suicidal isolationism depression and fascism, the "Bricks' in the wall were traumatic events in Pink's life that lead him to isolate himself: the death of his father in WW1 and having to grow up without a father figure in his life, the isolation and abuse he suffered in a VICTORIAN GRAMMAR SCHOOL(not a f------ high school) where, especially in the 1920's corporal punishment was actually part of disciplinary action, even when I was in high school in 2005 was repeatedly smacked around by teachers if I got things wrong, granted I was in South Africa. Pink's character was also mollycoddled by his overbearing mother which also lead to him being socially maladjusted which eventually lead to his wife cheating on him. This is a terrible critique because it's such a surface level analysis of The Wall, you want to talk about having no substance, being egotistical and self-indulgent where the f--- do you get off making a criticism like that when you made To Boldly Flee which was a 3 and a half hour ego trip that EVERYONE who worked on it universally hated. If you wanted to make a substantive critique of The Wall, here's one for you, how about this album not just the movie but the whole album was made during the worst time in the band's history in terms of their attitudes towards each other, it's no secret that Waters and Gilmour hated each other even before this album and were constantly fighting and bickering as Waters had a stranglehold on Floyd's musical output since Barrett left the band, this lead Richard Wright to develop a cocaine addiction which lead to his firing during the middle of album's production. Waters intended this album to be the band's final output which was eventually changed to The Final Cut after The Wall, Gilmour wanted to continue after The Final Cut which lead Waters to leave the band. The worst you can say about both the album and movie is that it's an acquired taste, but it's one thing to say "it's not for everyone" and it's another to completely misunderstand the story and overall message that the album was trying to convey and then completely misrepresent the movie based on that misunderstanding This comment will never reach Doug because he's an egotistical t--- who believes himself above criticism, this is instead for people who actually want to know more about the history behind the album and what the movie is trying to convey. I would've gone into more detail but then l'd be here forever. Oh and one more jab at Doug, Pink Floyd has made rebellious songs long before Another Brick In The Wall pt.2, you would know this if you had listened to more than one Pink Floyd album in your life.
