Obama's On The Train?! refers to a clip from an Abridged Series parody of Case Closed (aka Detective Conan) in which boy detective Jimmy Cudo (alias Conan Edogawa) informs train officers "A bomb is on the train," and they apparently mishear it as "Obama's on the train." The clip has inspired redraws with various characters acting out the scene.

Origin

On October 20th, 2015, YouTube channel SBN3 uploaded a parody dub of an episode of Case Closed.^[2] During the episode, boy detective Jimmy Cudo (Conan) informs police officers that "A bomb is on the train," which they mishear as "Obama's on the train." The video gained over 390,000 views in eight years (shown below).

Spread

On January 17th, 2021, YouTuber Bubba^[3] uploaded the scene in question, gaining over 132,000 views in two and a half years (shown below). On January 20th, the scene was posted to /r/Pyrocynical,^[1] gaining over 1,300 points in the same time frame.

Animated parodies of the scene began appearing over a year later. On September 16th, 2022, YouTuber CedDrawsNear posted an animation featuring Undertale characters, gaining over 125,000 views in one year (shown below, right). On the 20th, user @pee made an animation that gained over 11,000 views in a year (shown below, right).

Animations also grew popular on TikTok following a January 23rd, 2023 upload from @whathtewhisp that gained over 291,000 likes in eight months (shown below, left). On May 17th, user @cotomio uploaded a Chainsaw Man animation of the sound, gaining over 926,000 likes in three months (shown below, right).
