Oh, That Brother's Floating In The Air is a short song that has been used in numerous skits on TikTok, The sound is typically used with skits in which some sort of violent act causes a person to become airborne.

Origin

On July 21st, 2021, TikToker @clov3rbluewater^[1] posted a skit about a "roast" session going wrong, ending with someone throwing a punch. After the punch, a song plays that goes "Oh, that brother's floating in the air! How can his hands do this? Oh, someone get him out the air." The skit gained over 45,000 likes in three years (shown below, left). The same day, he made the song a shareable sound, and that video gained over 25,000 likes in the same time frame (shown below, right).

Spread

Over the following years, the sound inspired myriad sketches and animations on TikTok. Many of them couple the song with audio from a CalebCity Vine. While it's unclear where this started, user @momongaismyname^[3] posted a mix pairing the video and the sound on April 7th, 2022, gaining over 385,000 likes in two years (shown below, left). On December 31st, 2021, TikToker NutshellAnimations^[2] posted an animation set to the song, gaining over 797,000 likes in two and a half years (shown below, right).

On August 29th, 2022, TikToker @squidmonkee^[4] posted an example showing a monkey toy falling, gaining over 427,000 likes in two years (shown below, left). On February 11th, 2023, user @boykawins^[5] posted the song with a Fortnite clip, gaining over 1.2 million likes in one year (shown below, right).
