On Hold Song Vibes refers to a trend on TikTok often set to an unnamed original sound consisting of a low-quality version of the song "Opus No.1" by Tim Carleton & Darrick Deel[1][2] and collected under the hashtag #onhold in which TikTokers act out a skit where they're on hold with an unspecified company and gradually start vibing more and more intensely to the hold music, often ending in a dance.

Origin

On October 29th, 2020, TikToker critterbiscuit[2] uploaded a video of themself performing a choreographed dance to a telephone-quality version of "Opus No. 1" uploaded as an unnamed original sound (shown below). The video is captioned, "43 minutes on hold 🙃" and garnered over 82,000 views in just under 3 weeks.

The trend started to spread in the beginning of November, as TikTokers began expanding on critterbiscuit's format and using their sound. On November 2nd, TikToker nikgeezy[3] uploaded a video following the format, garnering over 52,000 views in 2 weeks (shown below, left). On November 5th, TikToker vidadelzorro[4] uploaded his own video following the trend, this time showing the individual stages of vibing while on hold and using the "Neon Shadow Filter" garnering over 179,000 views in just under 2 weeks (shown below, right).

On November 6th, TikToker relltheremedy[5] uploaded a version of the format, garnering over 3.4 million views in 11 days (shown below, left). On November 8th, TikToker estefisaavy[6] uploaded her own version, garnering over 3 million views in 9 days. As of November 17th, these are the two most popular videos using the sound.
