Oo Ee A E A Remix, also known as Oiiaoiia, refers to remixes of the Oo Ee A E A sound effect that grew popular in April of 2023. Remixes are often associated with a "Spinning Cat" (not to be mistaken with Maxwell the Cat).

Origin

On April 12th, 2023, Bilibili^[1] user 黑瘦的鱼头 uploaded a remix of the Oo Ee A E A sound effect with an edit of a spinning cat. The video received more than 12 million views in five months. On May 14th, 2023 YouTube^[2] user Sillius The Third reposted the video and received more than 251,000 views in four months (shown below).

Spread

Starting April 2023, the remixes grew popular in Bilibili and YouTube. For example on April 21st, 2023, Bilibili^[3] user 暂离二度 uploaded aa remix titled "oiiaioooooiai，但是🐔", which roughly translates to "oiiaioooooiai, but it's chicken". The video received more than 2.8 million views in five months. On April 25th, 2023, Bilibili^[4] user 4ever_____ uploaded a remix titled "⚡Oiiaioooooiai，但是Psytrance⚡" which roughly translates to "Oiiaioooooiai, but it's Psytrance", and received more than 939,000 views in five months.

On May 15th, 2023, YouTube^[5] user AM (NOT) FREAK uploaded the extended version of the remix. It received more than 3.3 million views in four months (shown below, left). On May 29th, 2023, YouTube^[6] user Remittal uploaded a short about the remix playing in the A Dance of Fire and Ice rhythm game. The video received more than 9.4 million views in four months (shown below, right).
