Painis Cupcake, or Penis Cupcake, is a character used in Source Filmmaker and Garry's Mod videos based on the Soldier from the video game Team Fortress 2 who often introduces himself by saying, "I am Painis Cupcake. I will eat you." He is depicted as sadistic and violent to other TF2 characters and frequently attempts to cannibalize them. Painis Cupcake is similar to other fan-inspired TF2 characters such as the Vagineer.

Origin

On January 9th, 2010, YouTuber^[8] RubberFruit uploaded a video titled "Painis Cupcake eats someone" (shown below). In the video, the Soldier^[1] from Team Fortress 2 lies in a mangled heap on the floor. He snaps together and then crawls across the ground towards the Spy^[4] character, and with an unnerving smile, says, "I am painis cupcake," then cannibalizes the Spy. The video gained over 1.6 million views in 11 years.

Soon after, YouTubers began uploading their own videos featuring the Painis Cupcake character in various situations, further fleshing out his personality, often depicting him as psychotic and cannibalistic (examples from late 2010 shown below, left and right).

The line "my name is painis cupcake" is made up of multiple soundbites used in Team Fortress 2, available to listen to on TF2 Wiki.^[2][3] The word "painis" is a segment of a voice command used by the Soldier, saying, "Pain is weakness leaving the body." This is combined with a line of dialogue of the Soldier saying, "Am I too violent for you, cupcake?"

The character has featured in many Garry's Mod and Source Filmmaker videos, which continually portray him as a violent Soldier with cannibalistic tendencies based on how he acts in the original video.

Some of the most popular uploads on YouTube include "Meet Painis cupcake" uploaded by YouTuber^[6] @Kostamoinen on July 15th, 2012, garnering over 1.6 million views in nine years (shown below, left) and "Never wake Pinkis Cupcake," uploaded on February 20th, 2014, by YouTuber^[7] TheInvertedShadow, garnering over 17 million views in six years (shown below, right).

Painis Cupcake has inspired a significant amount of fanart, much of which can be found on DeviantArt. ^[5][9] (example shown below).

Although media depicting Painis Cupcake has declined since 2010, the character is still used occasionally as the subject of art and videos.

For example, on January 10th, 2018, Redditor /u/airbiscuits made a post to /r/tf2^[10] reminding everyone of the eight-year anniversary of Painis Cupcake, garnering over 470 upvotes in three years.

On December 19th, 2020, Redditor /u/Skarlet-Raven uploaded an original piece of art featuring Painis Cupcake to /r/tf2,^[13] garnering over 530 upvotes in two months (shown below).

On October 29th, YouTuber^[11] Scruffy SFM uploaded a Halloween-themed SFM video featuring Painis Cupcake, garnering over 5,000 views in four months (shown below, left). On November 5th, YouTuber^[12] Mario209 uploaded a Painis Cupcake video, garnering over 5,600 views in three months (shown below, right).
