About
Amos Yee is a Singaporean YouTube personality, blogger and former child actor who is known for creating videos criticizing religion, political correctness and feminism, many have compared his style of video making to YouTuber Filthy Frank.
Origin
Yee created his YouTube account on July 28th, 2012. He uploaded his first video a day later, titled "Mos And Gene – The Dark Knight Rises Review + MORE PROOF THAT BATMAN DIDN'T DIE!", which was a review on the movie The Dark Knight Rises. The video has 25,000 views.
On August 10th, 2012, Yee uploaded a video titled "How To Speak Singlish", which became his first viral video. The video gained over 800,000 views.
Spread
In late March 2015, shortly after the death of former Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew, Yee uploaded a video on YouTube criticizing Lee. In the video Yee compared Lee to Jesus, and cast both in an unfavorable light. Yee also uploaded to his blog an image depicting Lee and Margaret Thatcher engaged in anal sex. Yee was arrested and charged with "intention of wounding the religious feelings of Christians". The video received over a million views, and 20,000 dislikes.
Conflict with Adam Saleh
On June 11 2016, Islamic Youtuber Adam Saleh uploaded a video Called MOST RACIST YOUTUBER DISRESPECTS THE QURAN. At the end of his video Adam requests his fans to report the video for hate speech.
Adam Saleh soon got tremendous criticism for trying to censor Amos Yee by requesting his viewers to report his video for hate speech, strawmanning Amos's argument and for framing Amos as racist, even though Islam is neither a race or ethnicity.
