Angel404 also known as angelnoname is an American YouTuber known for posting videos about 2000s/early 2010s nostalgic "dreamcore" content such as liminal spaces, the Backrooms, and short video memes. Angel holds the record for having the most voted on poll on YouTube with 15 million votes (as of 2022). He is also notorious for being verified and reaching one million subscribers with an invisible channel name.

History

Angel was born on February 21st, 2004 and joined YouTube on July 9th, 2016.^[1] In late 2019, Angel's channel rapidly grew, reaching its first 100,000 subscribers due to the "if you remember" series.

At the beginning of 2020, Angel began posting "dreamcore" and ironic meme videos. Angel would post his secret "go to sleep"^[2] series around 1-3 AM in USA eastern time. These videos would usually be short, strange memes. The "go to sleep" content would contain a liminal space image and hip-hop/lo-fi type music with the words "go to sleep" hidden in the video. Those videos were inspired by the Adult Swim bumpers that would appear during commercial breaks. During these times, Angel would interact with his subscribers by making community polls. Every time he made a post, users would comment "eat their ass" or "eat its ass."

On September 11th, 2020, Angel created his first official "playable YouTube game"^[3] that contains a rat and a boy fighting for cheese. The goal of the game was to beat the rat and get the cheese back so he can make pizza for his friend Prince's birthday party. This playable game helped his friend gain 1,000 subscribers. In October 2020, Angel's new series titled "if you don't understand" went viral and also helped his channel grow. The series remains active.

November 2020 marked the beginning of the channel's meteoric rise in popularity. Around this time, Angel's community polls appeared on millions of people's homepages, creating confusion as to how a channel with no name was appearing so frequently. YouTuber Timeworks has made a video^[4] about the channel, and it soon attracted Brazilian and Filipino fans. A YouTuber called Diggo^[5] (Brazilian channel) has referenced Angel on his own channel and helped him gain a Brazilian audience.

In February 2021, Angel created a video titled "scary"^[6] which gained millions of views. His current most popular video^[7] shows the Terrified noot noot meme being shot.

The channel reached one million subscribers in November 2021.

Channel name

His name uses a space and an invisible character (U+200C : ZERO WIDTH NON-JOINER [ZWNJ]). YouTubers such as Timeworks^[8] had explained the reason for its name. The username used on the channel link is "Angel404".
