This saying was created early in the 2012 NFL season, when Eli manning insisted that he was an elite quarterback, to the likes of his brother Peyton and Tom Brady. People created this saying to ridicule him, but now, since he is in the Super Bowl, it has become a compliment. Variations include; "Great. Eli throws another interception. Can't spell elite without Eli.", or "Eli Manning has thrown the game-winning touchdown! Can't spell Elite without Eli!!" The saying has increased in popularity since the Giants have made it to Super Bowl XLVI, and depending on the outcome of that game, the saying will either turn mostly negative, or mostly positive. It looks to become a very popular meme, soon enough.
