Devin Millar is an American singer, songwriter, music producer, cartoonist, and animator who is known for going against societal norms and censorship, having a childlike, 90s aesthetic, and having a feminine appearance and theme to go with his childlike theme. He and his music and songs went viral over the last few years and spawned remixes, reaction videos, and memes of his works. This includes "Hoody", "BFD", and "Unite" which became subject to internet memes and usage.

Online History

In 2011, at the age of 11, he started out with making satire and meme-style videos before releasing music under the name of TheDevinGreat. Eventually in 2014 he created the official Devin Millar YouTube channel which now is the channel that houses his music and music videos.

He still creates videos under this handle but not too often.

He was relatively small and humble. Creating songs and music videos for these songs. He created an EP titled “Crack and Collide” which didn’t receive much social media attention at first. He released these on all the streaming services, as well as uploading them all on his YouTube and SoundCloud.

In 2015 he started wearing a black fedora hat and created a song titled after that. The song and music video has received a lot of social media attention. He won 1st place at his school talent show at River HomeLink after performing the song. The music video for Fedora was put on private in 2017 but was reuploaded in 2021. [1]

During that time was briefly involved with Voodoo Doughnut Recordings which he released two albums and a single titled “I’m A Celebrity” “#ALIVE” and “Delinquents”. He ditched this look in 2019.

In 2020, he moved over into being independent and now his theme is being feminine and childlike, which is how he’s known and perceived now. His music went from sounding like Trap and traditional EDM, to now sounding similar to Hands Up music from the 2000s mixed with elements from the previous said genres. His concert performances features him as a singer instead of a DJ, though he sometimes performs DJ-style from time to time.

Personal Life

Devin Millar was born in Vancouver, Washington on April 6, 2000. He lives in Yacolt with his family and still does. His uncle Grayson Millar helped him create music and gave him lessons on music production. He also learned to play piano at an early age. In 2015, he attended River HomeLink for high school. He was signed to Cavity Search Records and Voodoo Doughnut Recordings which were local Portland record labels where he released albums such as I'm a Celebrity and Delinquents between 2015 and 2017. The success was not as large with this time for him but when his image changed beginning in 2020 with his cartoon mascots, he became more known.

Unite

His first animated music video is "Unite" which is to celebrate the release of a fan-made community mod pack PROJECT UNITE for some Need For Speed games. He uploaded the music video for on August 3, 2021 and has received 90k views in 1 year. The music video also has spawned remixes and parodies. The most notable part of the song is Devin singing, "I wanna live like PROJECT UNITE!"

Hoody

He created "Hoody" along with an animated music video 2 years later. The song sports to be an homage to Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Grand Theft Auto: V. [3]

The song is notable for the fact that Devin says the N-word liberally for the sake of removing the power from it and to end the double standard regarding what people are allowed to say it. He has stated this numerous times and it has been quite successful with the results. The music video is currently his most viewed video. Racking up 100,0000 views as of 2022.

Red Roser

Another factor of the video that became popular was the scene of a crowd member saying "Aren't you going to play for any song for us, Red Roser?" This became popular on it's own.

Here are examples of remixes and edits users created of this clip.

BFD

He created a song titled "BFD" (short for “big fat dick”) which appears to be his reaction to WAP by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion. The animated music video created for it received over 100,000 views on over one month. [4]

Devin Millar Stare

In the video for "Axe My House" towards the end, Devin turns to the camera and stares at us and charges at the camera with his ax. This is another clip that got popular due to most of it's elements and hilarousness. (At the 2:38 mark)

Video Work

Modern K-fee Commercials

From time to time he has done video parodies and many stuff like that. He created modernized parodies of the K-fee commercials which were popular in the 2000s, and he has received social media attention for this as well. These also sparked internet memes of this material.

I'm So Sorry Please Forgive Me.mp4

He also created a popular Creepypasta video and story titled I'm So Sorry Please Forgive Me.mp4 which he created when was 14 years old, and this was a test for his Max and Ruby 0004 animated adaptions. These became famous on their own and they even sparked internet memes of them,

Max And Ruby 0004

He created two animated adaptions of the Max And Ruby 0004 Creepypasta story. One when he was 14 years old, and the other in 2020. These gained massive social media attention as well as by Creepypasta and Horror video fans alike. Many reacted to and created memes of these videos and his work spiked the popularity of the story in which they're based on.

A user named penguh archived the 2014 version Devin created, as we cannot embed the original upload on Devin's SeeLight4Guy channel since he deliberately age-restricted them for extra scariness.

Here is the most popular repuload of Devin's 2020 version as this too was age-restricted.

Other Stuff

He has also created a video game mod for the game Need For Speed Payback which restores the function of a “pursuit system” like all the other games have. Payback was supposed to have this function from the beginning but it was cancelled and was never patched officially. So Devin created a mod that restores this function using Frosty Editor, and Devin is also known for this achievement as well. [2]
