History

The ElleOfTheMills YouTube channel was created on March 28, 2012, and Mills' Twitter account was created a few months later in July. She also has accounts for Facebook, Snapchat, and Instagram, as well as the previously mentioned YouNow.

"Crash a Prom" Tweet

On June 16, 2017, Mills posted a set of images on Twitter of her eating a bag of chips in the background of a prom photo captioned with "i tried to subtly crash a prom." The image has about 100,000 likes and 23,000 retweets as of June 22, 2017.

The tweet was criticized heavily by users of Twitter, with most mocking the image for being "sloppy" or "disgusting," among other things. This led to other tweets of Mills' being uncovered, which were also mocked by users of the platform. Many of the insults were directed at how she seemingly used her weight as the butt of her jokes. She was also commonly paired with or compared to Christina Sydelko, another online personality mocked for her weight.
