Mete Gazoz is a is a male Turkish recurve archer. He started archery back in 2010, and he won the gold medal in individuals 70m category in the Tokyo 2020. His attitude, smilies and celebrations during the Olympics made him popular online.

History

Gazoz began with Archery in 2010. The right-handed archer made his international debut in 2013. He holds 3 golden, 3 silver and 4 bronze medals on World Cup Stages.^[1]

Memes

His presence on memes was started with a picture, taken in Tokyo 2020 Olympics by a Turkish Twitter^[2] account, called "Hiç Etik Değil" in 31th of June, 2021, with the caption "Adam." , which means "The Man." in Turkish. Gazoz can be seen in the picture, behind the US athlete Brady Ellison.

The same day that picture has been taken, it started to appear in Turkish subreddits in Reddit, such as r/Turkeyjerky^[3], with picture used as a meme template in Turkish memes.

Shortly after appearing in Turkish subreddit, the template made its way to international subreddits, such as r/memes^[4], which it got 34.6k upvotes in the first 21 hours it got posted.
